Blank Slate

Despite this being my first blog post, I certainly feel like I’ve been around the block a few times:-)  After graduating with a degree in photography in 2004, I’ve worked as a newspaper photographer, a sports photographer, a wedding photographer, a portrait photographer, an event photographer, and probably more I’m forgetting. However, blogging has never been my forte. So, instead of posting on a blog that was last updated in 2013 (!), I thought I would start fresh. This way you can see my work, right now.

Photography is so so personal to me. It’s about being welcomed into the most intimate times in peoples’ lives. I remember photographing a new family just 6 months after my first daughter was born. I stood by that family, knowing full well all the emotions and uncertainties that come in the first few weeks. I had been there myself just a few moments prior.

Same with weddings. I remember my excitement. My nerves. Not only that, but I have experienced hundreds of couples getting married and, as a photographer, knowing the dance needed to let a couple enjoy their moments while being assertive enough to get the images that will last a lifetime.

I guess I’m rambling now! What I meant to say is, welcome to my new home:-)  This space will likely be a mix of personal and professional because that’s how I am and that’s why I do what I do. So, if you’re looking for daily updates and constant new sessions, then this place is probably not for you. If you’re like me; passionate, scatterbrained, genuine, and honest, please come back and visit. I’d love to get to know you!

I will leave you with one of the more recent pictures of me, though it was taken way back when there was only about 8 inches of snow! Sitting on my lap is Charlotte, my nearly 4-year old daughter who is filled to the brim with energy, spunk, and unbridled love for people and life in general.
